Non Uniform Day for Great Ormond Street

This Friday the school is holding a non uniform day to raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital, this has been promoted and organised by Frankie Paolella-Kemp Everett Y11.
Frankie gave a moving and well delivered talk in assembly explaining why we should support this great hospital. I hope all Everett pupils will donate at least £2.00 for this worthy cause.
I have copied his assembly address below.

Good morning
This Friday we are holding a home clothes day for the whole school. The purpose is to raise money for charity and the charity this Friday is Great Ormand Street Children’s Hospital. I am here to talk to you about why we should help support Great Ormand Street Hospital.
Great Ormand Street has been on the front line of medical research ever since it was set up. For example it has discovered techniques for stopping your heart but still keeping you alive whilst they are operating on you.
As some of you will know, last summer I had a life saving heart operation. However, this was not the first time my life has been saved by Great Ormand Street.
The biggest thing that has happened to me is that I have had my aorta replaced. The aorta is the major blood vessel that allows blood to be pumped from your heart, around your body. Without this operation I would not have survived. I, and many other young people, owe a great deal to Great Ormand Street.
When I was in Great Ormand Street last, I saw people with even worse conditions than me. Some with conditions that affect only one child in a million. Great Ormand Street is their final hope. Some are not so lucky as one of the kids in the room next to me died at the age of three months. You never know, her cure could have been one test tube away. That is why I am asking you to help this Friday by bringing two pounds out of your own pocket to donate to Great Ormand Street. It is a quick and easy way for us to help contribute to their research. Perhaps that extra little bit of research with that extra test tube that we pay for, may save just one life.
If it were not for Great Ormand Street I would certainly not be here today, able to talk to you. I hope that we can help some other children with our donation this Friday.
Thank you for listening.
