Cadet Leadership Course

Myles Everett attended the Cadet Leadership Course at Nesscliff training camp from 19th to 25th April. A rigorous CCF camp where the aim is “To develop cadets’ initiative and self reliance and to exercise their practical leadership.” Myles did well on his Command Task where his performance feedback statement from the platoon leader said ‘during the command task Myles showed great intelligence and foresight and it was good to see that he asked others what they thought before conducting the task.’

Spring Concert

A fantastic evening on Thursday night, in front of a packed sports hall several Everett pupils were show casing their musical talents. The evening was a fun, lively and varied spectacle. First up on stage was Chris Baker, with the opening solo as one of the Shiplake T-Birds singing grease lightning, Chris also performed in the chamber choir, rock choir and senior orchestra.  Lucy, Emma and Eleanor sang Just give me a reason as part of the girls choir, Lucy also sang with the chamber choir. Eleanor went on to play piano for the Motown band. Jamie Mottram showed he can sing as part of the rock choir, as too did Gus. Greg was part of the senior orchestra who did a fantastic job with a difficult piece Danse Macabre. But the star of the show was Josh Hirst who sang in the chamber choir, played drums for the Motown band, guitar group piece and alongside Reiss and Yeem. On top of that playing the clarinet with the clarinet quartet, lower school choir and senior orchestra. A fantastic effort.

BTEC music showcase

A fantastic performance by all, but in particular Lucy Collings, a real talent, well done Lucy.
On Wednesday 26 March, Music BTEC pupils Reiss Simpson, Lucy Collings and Sam Ryder-Smith hosted a charity gig in the Great Hall. The concert was organised entirely by the Sixth Formers as part of their course, Headmaster Mr Davies said: “The pupils organised a truly excellent evening, with some fantastic talent on show. They chose a selection of very serious songs, but sung them beautifully ensuring the audience still had an enjoyable evening.”

AS drama production - Home

This year’s AS Theatre Studies Drama Production has been challenging for both participants and audiences. Taking a series of scenes from Tuesday September 11th 2001 the actors tell not just the story of the attack on New Yorks’ Twin Towers but also of the difficult ensuing years.

Everett’s Luke Wilkinson takes on several roles but is most memorable as a member of a Beatles tribute band waiting at the airport with a most authentic Liverpudlian accent.

Hours of intensive preparation and rehearsal paid dividends with some tight choreography as the actors frantically race round a chaotic airport or indulge in frenetic speed-dating as they try to re-build their lives.

Ultimately a scene in the gift shop at Ground Zero shows how loss and poignancy endure. Visitors emerge moist eyed after a traumatic tour which reminds them of those victims who jumped to their death.

Football Awards

Well done to Freddie Ireland and Will Clarke who were awarded their football half colours at the Football awards on Thursday.

College Prefects

Very well done to Anthony Miarli, Freddie Ireland and Emma Haynes who have been selected as College prefects for 2014 to 15. After two rounds of rigorous interviews and voting by pupils and staff; their personal qualities and commitment to school life made them deserving candidates.
Jamie Mottram and Myles Everett made the final round interviews and were highly commended by the interview panel, although disappointed they both did well and I am sure will both continue to give of their all to College life and push for selection during the year.
Everyone in Everett is very proud of all of them.
