Happy Christmas

Happy Christmas to all Everett pupils and their families.
I hope you have a great holiday and see you in the New Year.
Below are two pictures from todays festive Christmas lunch.

House Colours

House Colours – it was my great pleasure to award Jack Madden his House colours, 1st XV, CCF/DofE, and good House duties a great term from him. New this year are House socks for contributions to House or school life, awarded to Frankie Paolella-Kemp, James Wilson, Oran Mehmet, Max Chandler and Greg Cooke. There have been plenty of good things happening this term and several other boys and girls are close to getting their colours soon.

Y9 meet Olympic rower

Everett Y9 rowers met Will Satch on Tuesday.
‘I wasn’t even in the top three for an ergo when I was in the Shiplake J14 Vlll,’ Will Satch, Olympic Bronze Medallist in the 2012 GB Men’s Pair, told Shiplake College’s aspiring Year 9 rowers.
‘You guys are at the perfect school, maybe one of you will be pushing me for a place in the 2020 Olympics. You’ve got the river here, right on your doorstep.  Leander Club is there  in Henley and the GB lake at Caversham is just down the road. Some of you in this room will grow to be bigger than me but it is not about size it is about what’s in your head,’ Will concluded. Pictured below are Charlie Ward, Josh Hirst and Henry Birdsey with Will.

Senior Rugby Awards

At the Senior Rugby Dinner on Wednesday Everett were again well represented in the awards. Michael Glover earned his Senior Full colours, Oran Mehmet his half colours. Kit Bowerin was presented with an outstanding service award, whilst Max Chandler, Will Tse and Anthony Miarli earned U16 Colours.

Christmas Concert

The Christmas Concert last week was a fantastic evening. A variety of music to suit all tastes and it was great to see so many Everett pupils involved. Thanks to Mr Baker for supplying the pictures below. Will Tse showed off his guitar talents performing with his fellow band mates Mach 5 and with the rock Choir, multitalented Josh Hirst sang in the Chamber Choir, Rock Choir and played in the Orchestra, alongside Greg Cooke. Chris Baker too showed his musical talents in the Orchestra and then singing with Max Chandler, Zach Messer and Jamie Mottram in the Rock choir. Not forgetting the girls Rose, Anna and Olivia in the girl’s choir.

Floods

Although at last the waters are starting to receed, here are some pictures of Shiplake showing just how bad it got. I hope we all spare a thought for Charlie Ward and his family, his Mum was stranded in her home on Rod Eyot Island !

Message from the Medical centre

Dear Parents
Please can we remind you that boys and girls  are not permitted to bring any over the counter medicines or remedies in for use within school. Should you son or daughter require medicating then please could they see their matron in the first instance,  as all houses hold a supply of over the counter medicines as does the Medical Centre.
Many thanks for your help
Kind regards
Susan Wallace
