Junior House Hockey

On a freezing cold Wednesday afternoon Everett Y9 and 10 took to the Astro for the Junior tournament. With only 4 hockey players in the House we had to call on our rowers to make up the squad. Despite this we started strongly and drew our first game against Skipwith. Rory controlled things in the centre whilst solid defence from Josh and Chris snuffed out their attacks, Harry was a safe set of pads in goal, Will and Greg on the wings were always in the thick of it, playing through to James up front. Coming off the bench as the snow began to fall we had Matt and Oscar making valuable contributions to our other three games, narrow losses to Burr and Orchard were followed by a dogged end to end battle with Welsh, we were pleased to draw this game with the eventual winners of the competition. Despite coming 5th, we played well in all the games, the points system counting against us, despite holding the first and third place teams of Welsh and Skipwith to goalless draws.

Artisan baking

In the days of mass produced loaves, it is good to see some good old fashioned kneading going on. As part of this term’s Y9 Tuesday activities, Madame Parrott is teaching the art of baking French bread. Pictured below is Austin with his tasty effort.
