House Athletics and Cricket
Last Friday saw the opening afternoon of the Inter House Athletics competition. It was good to see almost the whole House out there competing.
Anthony Miarli and Sam Coleman were again our fliers, with blistering pace in the 100 and 200m. Y9 did themselves proud, Ben Chambers in particular running in all three events despite a pulled muscle.

The Senior House match against Welsh got off to a difficult start, with only 9 players available to begin with. But a couple of hasty late substitutions meant although we lost we did pull off a fine fielding display to make them fight hard to reach the runs needed. Zachy Mettawa conscripted from rowing, along with other non regular cricketers Alex Turton, Chris Kerrigan all played their parts well. Ben Francis, Luke Maguire, Louis Tindall, Henry Corke, Henry Breckenridge, Teddy Hewins Cameron Dempster and Alex Sanderson never gave up and I was proud to see them handle a difficult match and eventual defeat so sportingly.

Chapel Wardens
I am delighted to announce that James Wilson and Frankie Paolella-Kemp have accepted Reverend Cousins invitation to be Everett House Chapel Wardens for 2012/13. I know they will both do a great job looking after the spiritual and pastoral needs of the House.

London Wasps Elite Player Development Group
Congratulations to Max Chandler, following his excellent performance at the Harrow Rugby festival he has secured his place in the London Wasps EPDG. There are only a few places awarded and Max has done really well to gain his place, here are just some of the comments from the Academy Director ‘Very pleased with your performance today in the tight and loose. Very effective and contributed well in all your games. Your contribution in the loose should not be underestimated as this set us on the road to recovery with your competitive approach to the contact area. Good line speed in defence – Well Done’ All of us in Everett wish him well and will follow his progress with interest.

Exeat weekend
Despite it being an exeat weekend, several Everett pupils had a busy time. Max Chandler enjoyed some very competitive rugby as part of the Wasps squad at the 12’s festival at Harrow. They enjoyed good wins over several strong sides, but lost out to a strong Gloucester team and were narrowly defeated by London Irish to take a commendable 3rd place.
James Baker, Ben Markham and Milo Taylor all had a great time on the history trip to Krakow, an enjoyable but also educational trip.

Dom Marsh and Jamie Mottram were part of a U15 crew who competed well at the Wallingford regatta on Sunday, finishing a creditable second in the final.

I was delighted to see four Everett pupils appointed school prefects for next year.
Kit Bowerin, Michael Glover, Rose Parker and Anna Proctor.
Congratulations to all, I am sure they will do a great job.
James Wilson and Olivia Peacock both made the final round and were commended on their interviews. They both have a lot to offer next year and will I am sure will be offered the chance of other roles of responsibility.

UAE Sports Tour
UAE SPORTS TOUR
Several members of Everett House were part of the successful Cricket and Tennis tour to Dubai. Kit Bowerin and Harry Cheesewright enjoyed some competitive tennis fixtures. Kit prepared the following report for me ….. Tennis a squad of 6 played both doubles and singles tennis matches at different location across Dubai and also Abu Dhabi championships. First match was against Dubai College in which the 1st pair of James Bailey and Kit Bowerin managed to pick up two wins with 2nd and 3rd pair close to gaining a similar outcome. The hosts running out winners by six matches to three. Next up was a rigorous training day at the stunning Meydan Race Course Tennis Academy, where the boys had the chance to be coached by the UAE’s top coaches. The squad then had the chance to compete in the UAE U16 Singles Open at the Zayden Tennis Club in Abu Dhabi. Playing on the courts which hosts an ATP event the team played superbly. James Bailey was reached the quarter finals and Yeem Chanthanawan and Harry Cheesewright also made the second round in the singles tournament. Further matches against the PT Academy and Jumeirah Tennis Club, played under the shadows of the magnificent Burj Al Arab, set the boys up nicely for the highlight of the tour in which Harry Cheesewright and Kit Bowerin both managed to pick up wins as a pair to finish the tour on a strong positive for the upcoming season.
Meanwhile on the cricket field Milo Taylor put to good use the training and hard work in the nets during the spring term to produce some excellent batting displays. A full report is available on the school website. He was deservedly voted Man of the Tour and showed why he is such a valued member of the 15A XI and I look forward to hearing how his season goes now the summer (!) term is here. He is a talent to watch for the future and will I am sure ably follow in the footsteps of our Seniors. His stats for the tour were a batting average of 33 and 3 wickets taken, and a top score of 62 against Rendcombe College in a Day/Night game in Al Daid. He also made an excellent 38 not out against the British School Abu Dhabi. Kit writes
