Monday afternoon saw the Juniors take to the square for the
Junior House cricket. We were drawn against Burr. Drawing on the ranks of the
rowers to make up numbers, as several of our Y9 cricketers were playing tennis!
Hassan Rubbani captained the squad well and also rotated the players, so as
many as possible could get involved in the 7 a side 6 over format. Everett were
put into bat first, Oscar and Kieran opened the batting, with an assured
partnership, followed by Hassan and then Henry. We posted a total of 35 for 2.
Burr came out to bat, but were initially held in check by good bowling from
Josh and Kieran, Hassan organised the field well and some great fielding plus
excellent wicket keeping from Oscar saw Burr lose an early wicket. Hassan
bowled a tight over and then Henry caught and bowled another Burr batsman and
things were looking promising. However Burr then brought on a strong batsman,
despite tidy bowling by Darien, they crept towards our total, and we lost with
6 balls remaining. Well done to all who contributed either with bat, ball or in
the field including Bilal, Josh T, Austin, Bill and Zach.
