Hot on the heels
of the Y9 performance evening came the House drama competition on this afternoon.
The boys had 2 hours to devise a short play using a prop of their choice. All
of the boys were involved in the production but the brave five who stepped onto
the boards were Hugh, Faan, Jake, Harvey and Bilal. Their piece revolved around
‘a red button’ that assured the destruction of Britain and how it came to be
mistakenly pushed by cleaning lady Hugh, despite opposition from a gagged and
bound Jake, the two evil conspirators Faan and Hugh (again!) managed to evade
capture and detection by MI5 agents Harvey and Bilal. A funny and fast moving piece
that prompted genuine laughter from the crowd, unfortunately the judges deemed
other Houses to have performed slightly better, but we didn’t finish in last
place, instead a strong fourth, very close behind third placed Skipwith, Burr
came second and Orchard won.
