Athletic Championships

A fantastic afternoon of very competitive running, throwing and jumping. Everett did themselves proud, I was particularly pleased with the efforts of Y11 many of whom filled in for missing or injured Seniors. However the Juniors must be congratulated on winning their House competition with a clutch of medals and a new school record. All ran well but Anthony Miarli and Sam Coleman were the stars. Well done to David for organising the team.

National Schools Regatta

Well Done to all our Everett rowers who competed at the National Schools Regatta. Everett were represented in every crew, in what was one of the most successful for Shiplake for many years. Particular mention must go to our medal winners Michael Glover, Will Clarke, Will Tse and Dom Marsh.

Beating the Retreat

Tonight Shiplake College and the local branch of the Royal British Legion hosted the REME Band for Beating the Retreat. This year is the 90th Anniversary of the RBL and tonight's occasion was both a fund raiser and a raising the awareness event. Several Everett CCF pupils were involved and it also marked the last official event for our Y13 CCF cadets David Hawes and Olly Fogden who we hope have benefited from their time in the Corps.

Excellence award

Today in assembly Mr O'Brien Deputy Head remarked that increased teacher expectations as the year progresses raise the bar for gaining excellence slips. So I was pleased to see Tom Holmes awarded a certificate for being in the top four of his year for excellence slips so far this term. Well done Tom.

Masterchef

Congratulations to Bella Le Blanc on making it through to round 5 of Shiplake Masterchef. Bella is now in a cook off with the final four contestants. We wish her well.

Athletics results

After another good afternoon of competitive field and track events, the results of the Athletics Standards have just been announced. Every pupil competes in 4 track and two field events and depending on time and distance score standards for their House, everybody contributes to the overall results making this a true House event. I was really pleased to see us come joint 2nd overall. Well done to the Juniors who won their category, the Seniors came 3rd and the Girls a creditable 4th despite several girls being off games. All bodes well for the championship events after half term. Special mention must go to Anthony Miarli and Sam Coleman, both of whom scored 'A' standards in every running event.

House athletics

An excellent effort from the whole House, Juniors, Senior and Girls. Every pupil on games turned out and gave their best. There were some impressive scores in the first standards events and all bodes well for some more valuable Baldry Trophy points.
