As part of their Duke of Edinburgh Bronze award, Josh Hirst,
Austin Burnand, Darien Patel and Charlie Ward have spent this term setting up
an allotment in the Orchard. The first stages required the boys to build a
solid frame and to clear the land of any loose rocks and weeds – by no means an
easy task! The boys have decided to grow a variety of beans and are looking
forward to eating them at the end of the summer term. Darien has said he was
particularly surprised at just how much the seeds needed watering, particularly
with the recent sunshine. We look forward to watching the vegetables grow over
the coming weeks.
